Have you ever seen a photo of those endless tulip fields in the Netherlands? The colors, perfect rows, and beautiful skies are something everyone should experience. But, if you can’t get to the Netherlands, I recommend heading to Dalton Farms for their Pick Your Own Tulip Festival.
The rows of colorful tulips are a sight for sore eyes in the heart of Spring, and allow for a fun experience with your family. Read on to learn all about what to expect on your visit to this beautiful farm in Swedesboro, NJ!
Dalton Farms is an expansive 99 acres of land with family ties going back to 1790. With a love for the farm since childhood, the current owner, Keith, has helped to create a beautiful location for adventures. The farm is owned by the Dalton Family, but with help from the Viereck Family, they are able to plant, nourish, and grow a wide variety of tulips each year. They started with beehives and grew 1.2 million sunflowers, which kicked off the pick-your-own experience we know today.
From spring through early fall, Dalton Farms is home to three different pick your own events. Beginning with Tulips in the Spring, you can head to the farm for a fun family outing. Picking flowers is just the beginning of what you can experience here! The farm is also home to pick-your-own strawberries in the summer, and sunflowers in the early fall. Along with walking through the beautiful fields and selecting the perfect bouquet, there is food, wine, and music on the weekends. Because of the wide variety of events, there is something for every member of the family to enjoy.
As of this writing, tickets for ages 3 and up are $12 per person. You can purchase tickets online prior to your arrival. You can purchase as few or as many as you like, because flowers are purchased individually or in sets of 10. There is no limit to the amount of flowers you can buy! Individual tulips are $2 each, while sets of 10 are just $10. Strawberry and sunflower pricing is not currently listed, but both are sold in a similar manner. Last year, when I went with my littles for Strawberries, they insisted on bringing their Easter baskets, and we ended up with about 9 pounds of berries!
All in all, my family and I love not just the beauty of the farm, but also the experience. There is so much to do, and ways for the little ones to burn off energy! From the 6 acre lake, to the fields of flowers, and weekend activities, there is an option for each person in your family. Whether you are at the farm for a photo session or as a family outing, you are sure to enjoy every moment of your visit.
