Honoring Life and Loss with Maternity Photography

*trigger warning* mention of infant loss

I recently had the privilege of hosting a truly magical maternity session in the absolutely beautiful Petit Social Studio, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

First, allow me to introduce you to a very special family. Mom, Dad, and big sister came in to the studio to celebrate the new life that Mom is bringing into the world. But their story goes even deeper. They also wanted to honor the memory of their precious son, who was born sleeping. We found a beautiful way to incorporate his memory into these photos using the blanket he was wrapped in at birth. Their story is one filled with love and resilience, and I am deeply honored to be a part of their journey.

Now, let me share the magic of the session itself. Mom chose a studio session because it gave us the chance to create customized sets and multiple beautiful backdrops. It was a moment to capture the very essence of their family, their love, and their unique bond.

Mom and her daughter had the pleasure of wearing some beautiful outfits from the OGP client closet. Mom adorned three very different pieces, while her daughter was a vision in two lovely dresses. They looked absolutely radiant, adding cohesion and ease to their photos and planning process.

Throughout the session, I witnessed the most heartwarming connections between Mom, Dad, and big sister. The love and anticipation for the new baby filled the studio with warmth and pure happiness. It was an absolute joy to capture these precious moments and create lasting memories for this wonderful family.

As a photographer, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of excitement about the future. I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new baby, ready to document those incredibly tender and squishy newborn moments. It’s going to be an extraordinary journey, and I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of it.
